The Eurasian Development Bank has increased its financing for Uzum from $70 million to $100 million. The original loan, signed in May 2026, was the bank's first investment in Uzbekistan after the country joined the EDB; the additional $30 million goes to Uzum's fintech business and digital financial services for individuals and SMEs.
Founded and led by CEO Jasur Jumaev, Uzum is Uzbekistan's largest digital ecosystem, combining a marketplace, fintech and Uzum Bank. More than 20 million people use its services every month. The company says Uzum Bank led the country in bank card issuance growth in 2026 and that more than half of orders on Uzum Market are paid with the ecosystem's own financial services.
Uzbekistan has more than 70 million bank cards in circulation and one of the fastest-growing cashless markets in Eurasia.
The read: development banks are starting to fund platforms, not just roads and power.
