OPay has filed to list American depositary shares on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol OPAY, and Standard Bank Group has signed a subscription agreement to invest up to $200 million in a private placement alongside the offering, for a stake capped at 4.99%. The placement depends on the IPO going ahead and on regulatory approval.
Founded in 2017 by Zhou Yahui with Opera, OPay runs payments, savings and credit mainly in Nigeria, which produced 89.5% of revenue in the first half of 2026. It had 50.1 million monthly active users at the end of July. Revenue rose to $536.3 million in 2025 from $205.7 million, and net income reached $90.9 million in the first half of 2026.
Citigroup, Deutsche Bank, CICC and Standard Bank of South Africa represent the underwriters. Standard Bank's Lungisa Fuzile joins OPay's board once the placement closes.
