TrueLayer and SumUp have partnered to let SumUp personal account holders move money from their bank account into their SumUp balance within seconds, without entering card details. The capability launched in the UK earlier this year and has since expanded to Ireland, Germany, France, Spain and Italy.
SumUp also uses TrueLayer's account information services, so users can see the balances and transaction histories of their linked bank accounts inside the SumUp App, giving SumUp a compliant base for further financial products.
Founded in 2016 by Francesco Simoneschi and Luca Martinetti, TrueLayer runs a Pay by Bank network with more than 30 million users across Europe, combining real-time bank payments with financial and identity data. It bought in3 and Zimpler earlier this year as open banking consolidates.
The read: a point-of-sale fintech turning its consumer app into an account, with open banking doing the funding.
