TBC Georgia has launched palm payment, the first bank in the country to offer it. Customers pay by scanning their palm at participating merchants, with no card, phone or cash needed at checkout.

Registration is one-time. Customers enrol at a location with a dedicated palm scanner, then scan a QR code in TBC's mobile bank and choose the account to link to their palm.

TBC Georgia is part of London-listed TBC Bank Group, which serves 7.2 million monthly digitally active customers in Georgia and Uzbekistan. The launch follows a partnership with American Express to widen Amex card acceptance across Georgia. Sandro Rtveladze, Retail Business Director, said the aim is to bring the latest global financial technologies to the country.

The bank has not said how many merchant locations accept palm payment at launch.
