Skyro wins a moneylending licence in Malaysia, its second Southeast Asian market after the Philippines

Skyro's Malaysian entity has received a moneylender's licence from the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), authorising it to lend online. Malaysia becomes its second market in Southeast Asia after the Philippines, and the first product, cash loans, is due in the coming months.
Skyro is a digital consumer finance group led by co-founders and co-CEOs Arsen Liametov and Nasim Aliev. It uses AI-driven credit decisioning and alternative-data scoring to lend to people underserved by banks.
The group has more than 7 million registered users and a credit portfolio above $200 million, and plans to expand into Saudi Arabia as well.
It enters Malaysia while the consumer credit sector is being reformed under the Consumer Credit Act 2025, which set up the Consumer Credit Commission.
