Pliant's UK subsidiary, Pliant Payments Limited, has received full authorisation from the Financial Conduct Authority as an Electronic Money Institution. The company can now issue payment products and serve UK customers directly through its own regulated entity, after an FCA review of its onboarding, risk management, safeguarding and financial controls.

Founded in 2020 and headquartered in Berlin, Pliant runs a modular B2B payments platform combining commercial card issuing, payment accounts, FX and spend management, for businesses and for AI agents. Fintechs, software platforms and banks also use its infrastructure to build their own commercial payment products.

Pliant is a principal member of Visa and Mastercard and issues commercial cards in 13 currencies across 32 countries.

CEO and co-founder Malte Rau said the licence gives Pliant more independence to serve UK businesses, financial institutions and public-sector organisations directly.
