AvaTrade has agreed to acquire the majority of FXCM Group's business and brand rights, bringing one of retail FX's oldest brands under the AvaTrade Group. Terms and the exact perimeter were not disclosed, and the announcement does not say whether the FXCM Pro institutional business is included.
The deal follows Trade Nation's agreement, announced on 6 October, to take FXCM's UK client book from Stratos Markets. Jefferies has controlled FXCM's parent since its rescue loan after the 2015 Swiss franc shock, took full ownership in 2023 and renamed the parent Stratos Group.
Founded in 1999, FXCM pioneered online retail FX and holds licences in Cyprus, Australia, South Africa and Israel, among others. AvaTrade, founded in 2006 and based in Dublin, is led by CEO Daire Ferguson, who said the deal builds a stronger, more diversified trading group.
The read: retail CFD brokerage is consolidating around licence footprints and client books.
