Global Banking Annual Review 2026: Precision with speed (preview)
By McKinsey & Company ·
McKinsey's preview of its annual banking review reports record 2025 profits of $1.3 trillion, but a shrinking share of funds held on bank balance sheets. It argues that customer ownership has reached a tipping point: the top 1,000 fintechs now earn 17 percent of the revenue they share with the top 1,000 banks, gen AI is being adopted far faster than digital banking was, and stablecoins, at about $300 billion in circulation, supported about $400 billion of real payments in 2025.
