TBC Bank Uzbekistan has brought Apple Pay to its customers on the day Apple Pay and Google Pay went live in Uzbekistan, 27 October. Cardholders add a card in Apple Wallet and pay with iPhone or Apple Watch at contactless terminals, in apps and on websites through Safari.
According to the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, Apple Pay launched with Visa and Mastercard cards from six local banks, including the National Bank of Uzbekistan, Ipak Yuli Bank, Orient Finans Bank, Kapitalbank, TBC Bank Uzbekistan and Octobank, and with Visa cards from Hamkorbank and Uzum Bank. Work continues to connect the national Uzcard and Humo systems.
TBC Uzbekistan is part of London-listed TBC Bank Group and runs TBC UZ, Payme, TBC Business and BILLZ. Apple and Google had reportedly held back over Uzbekistan's personal data law, and TBC opened its own processing centre in 2024 to be ready.
