The Gibraltar Financial Services Commission has authorised Revolut Global Digital Assets Limited, a newly established Revolut subsidiary, to conduct distributed ledger technology activities under Part 7 of Gibraltar's Financial Services Act. The permission covers virtual asset order execution, custody and staking.
Revolut currently offers crypto through Revolut Ltd in the UK and Revolut Digital Assets Europe Ltd in the European Economic Area under MiCA. The Gibraltar entity gives it a third regulated base for international markets; the company has not said which countries or when. It follows in-principle approval to offer crypto services in Dubai in July and preliminary conditional approval in the US for a national bank with digital asset custody.
Revolut says it serves more than 80 million retail customers, over 16 million of whom use its crypto services. Alongside the licence, it has fully resumed onboarding new customers resident in Gibraltar.
