OKXICE, the OKX and ICE joint venture, notifies the SEC of a 24/7 tokenised trading venue for more than 60 US stocks
OKXICE, the 50-50 joint venture between crypto exchange OKX and NYSE parent Intercontinental Exchange, has notified the SEC that it plans to launch a tokenised stock trading venue. Co-chair Andrew Cuomo, the former New York governor, announced the filing.
The venue would start with blockchain-based shares of more than 60 US-listed companies, trading around the clock with faster settlement while keeping dividend and voting rights.
The plan relies on the SEC's Innovation Exemption of 17 September, a five-year framework that lets qualifying venues trade tokenised US stocks using automated market makers. Launch remains subject to regulatory steps, including a 30-day window in which companies can object to the tokenisation of their shares.
The joint venture was formed in June, three months after ICE invested in OKX at a $25 billion valuation. OKX serves about 120 million retail traders.
The read: Coinbase, Robinhood and Kraken already offer tokenised stocks; this one carries the NYSE's parent on the cap table.
