Gaius Capital closes its debut fund at its €50M hard cap, plus €6M in co-investment, to back succession in DACH insurance and financial services

Berlin-based Gaius Capital has held the final close of its debut fund, Gaius Nachfolgekapital I, at its €50 million hard cap. A further €6 million raised through a co-investment vehicle brings total capital to €56 million, four months after a €40 million first close in June. More than 90% of commitments came from institutional investors in Germany, France, the Benelux, the US and the UK.

Founded in 2025 by Jan Mickel, Joscha Radeck and Lukas Klipper, Gaius buys majority stakes in profitable founder- and family-owned service companies facing succession in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, with insurance and financial services as its primary focus.

It has already launched two buy-and-build platforms in insurance broking, Praevidentia Group in Germany and Alpiora Group in Switzerland. Sellers can keep an economic stake in the combined group through its Gaius Seller Consortium model.
