Episode Six has launched Verified Backing, a real-time check for banks that issue their own tokenised deposits and stablecoins through its E6 Token Control Ledger.
Before a token is issued, the system confirms that the required backing has been recorded in the ledger. At redemption, it checks that the token is genuine and still outstanding before funds are released, even if it has moved across several wallets or blockchain networks. Traditional reconciliation reviews transactions after the fact.
The feature does not replace independent reserve audits or regulatory requirements, and is available to customers in the markets where Episode Six operates.
CEO and co-founder John Mitchell called it the next layer of the ledger. APAC managing director Daryn Griggs said the hard question is whether a token is still genuine when it is redeemed.
The read: as banks issue tokens, controls move from month-end reconciliation to the moment money changes hands.
