Berkshire Hathaway doubles down on Bending Spoons with $330 million

By Michele Mattei

Berkshire invests in Bending Spoons

#Bending Spoons raised $330 million from #BerkshireHathaway in a private placement, three months after Berkshire put $600 million into its July #IPO. Berkshire now owns 4% of the Milan based company.

Berkshire bought 10 million ordinary shares at $33.00 each, closing subject to customary conditions. Bending Spoons buys digital businesses, rebuilds them (teams, tech, product, monetization, often with AI at the center) and reinvests the earnings in the next acquisition. It has never sold a material business. The portfolio includes Airtable, AOL, Brightcove, Eventbrite, Evernote, Tractive, Vimeo and WeTransfer.

Co-founder Francesco Patarnello said the pipeline remains strong and the new capital adds financial flexibility for further acquisitions.

A $930 million bet from Berkshire on an Italian tech company in three months. The most patient capital allocator in the world is backing the most acquisitive one in Europe.
