Alpaca is a technology company that offers an API for trading US-listed stocks and ETFs, options and cryptocurrencies, with brokerage services provided by its subsidiary Alpaca Securities LLC, a FINRA/SIPC member. Individual developers and traders can open commission-free self-directed accounts and connect trading algorithms, bots or apps through the Trading API, with paper trading, a sandbox environment, market data APIs and OAuth for third-party apps. The Broker API lets fintech companies, investment advisers and broker-dealers outside the US embed US stock investing in their own products, with Alpaca handling trading and clearing. Alpaca India, regulated by the IFSCA in GIFT City, provides the same access for Indian institutions. The company is headquartered in Silicon Valley and publishes its OpenAPI specifications publicly.
