Mollie has launched official plugins for Claude and ChatGPT, together with an upgraded open Model Context Protocol server, so merchants can run more than 60 operations from an AI assistant. They cover payment links and checkouts, subscription management, draft invoicing and real-time financial reporting, for example creating a payment link with a 48-hour expiry or pausing a recurring plan.
Connection uses a standard OAuth screen with no code or API keys, and Mollie says setup takes less than a minute. Operators can review which permissions the assistant receives, and it follows the roles and daily limits already set in the account.
The assistant cannot move money on its own: it prepares a transfer, validates the recipient and pauses until the user approves a summary. Rogier Schoute, Mollie's Chief Product Officer, said the AI handles the preparation while the business owner keeps control.
The read: an MCP server is becoming a standard distribution channel for payment providers, with human approval kept at the point of payment.
